I went on a blind date with my paintbrush.
Today, I decided to paint these flowers completely blindfolded.
Not as a challenge.
Not as a tutorial.
But because apparently painting normally wasn’t challenging enough.
No, actually the point was to take technique out of the driver’s seat and let my intuition take over.
Before putting on the blindfold, I always tape the contour of my paintings to create that clean border, but today that tape became something more.
With it there, I could actually feel where the edges were.
I put a piece of tape on the edge of my middle colour as a tactile reference so I could locate each one.
Then the blindfold went on … and well, I had to trust myself 
I could feel the texture of the paper and where I had already painted.
If it was wet, I knew I had already been there.
If it was dry, I knew I could explore that area.
Normally, I think about placement, colour, composition, technique,
Today, I couldn't judge every mark before I made the next one.
I couldn't overthink it.
And that was incredibly freeing.
And I think that's what intuition really is.
It isn't the absence of knowledge or technique it's allowing everything you've already learned to work in the background… while you stop trying to control every single outcome.
Sometimes we don't need more information.
Sometimes we just need less interference.
Today, I painted.
I felt.
I listened.
And I let the flowers reveal themselves.
I had no idea what they looked like until the blindfold came off.
And maybe that's the best part.
But when I finally took off the blindfold…
well…
there were definitely flowers.
Were they the flowers I had imagined?
Absolutely not.
But maybe that’s the lesson.
Intuition doesn't always give you what you expected.
Sometimes it gives you something better…
because you finally got out of your own way.
